Clad plate
Plate made of a corrosion-resistant alloy layer bonded to a carbon steel backing at the mill, then formed and welded as one piece. The alloy does the corrosion duty and the steel carries the pressure, which is far cheaper than a solid alloy vessel. The clad layer is not structural and cannot be welded to without the correct procedure.
