Code Requirements for Design and Construction of Concrete Structures for the Containment of Refrigerated Liquefied Gases
The American counterpart to EN 14620 Part 3, and the more explicit of the two on concrete behaviour at cryogenic temperature. It gives the material property adjustments for concrete and reinforcement below ambient, the thermal gradient load cases, the crack width limits that keep the wall liquid-tight, and the requirements for post-tensioning systems in a cryogenic environment. It is the reference to reach for when a question concerns what the concrete itself does at −165 °C, rather than the tank arrangement around it.
This is an explanation, not the standard. PipingInspector is not affiliated with ACI and reproduces no part of the document. Always work to the current edition of the standard itself and to your project specification.
