Pipe Hangers and Supports — Materials, Design, Manufacture, Selection, Application and Installation
The pipe support standard. It numbers the support types everybody draws — the clamps, shoes, rods, rollers, clevises and spring hangers — and sets the materials, load ratings and installation rules behind each one. A project standard support detail sheet is almost always a set of SP-58 types with the project's own dimensions, which is why reading a support callout means reading this.
This is an explanation, not the standard. PipingInspector is not affiliated with MSS and reproduces no part of the document. Always work to the current edition of the standard itself and to your project specification.
