CEN

EN 14620

Design and Manufacture of Site Built, Vertical, Cylindrical, Flat-bottomed Steel Tanks for Refrigerated, Liquefied Gases

The European code for site-built refrigerated liquefied gas tanks operating between 0 °C and −165 °C, and the document that defines the containment categories a civil engineer works to: single, double and full containment. Part 3 covers the concrete components — the outer containment wall, the base slab, the thermal corner protection and the secondary bottom. It sets the design basis for the leakage case, in which the outer concrete wall must hold the full liquid head at cryogenic temperature after the inner tank has failed, and it governs the prestressing, the liner and the insulation that make that possible.

This is an explanation, not the standard. PipingInspector is not affiliated with CEN and reproduces no part of the document. Always work to the current edition of the standard itself and to your project specification.
