ASME
ASME B31.1
Power Piping
The piping code for power stations and boiler external piping, and the counterpart to B31.3. The two differ in allowable stress basis and in examination requirements, so applying the wrong one gives a wall thickness that is either uneconomic or unsafe.
This is an explanation, not the standard. PipingInspector is not affiliated with ASME and reproduces no part of the document. Always work to the current edition of the standard itself and to your project specification.
