HSFG / slip-critical

A bolted connection where bolts are tensioned so that friction between the clamped plates carries the load, rather than the bolt bearing on the hole. Used where slip cannot be tolerated. The faying surfaces must be prepared and left unpainted, and the bolt tension verified.
