The temperature-versus-time profile a fireproofing rating is tested against. Cellulosic (ISO 834) represents an ordinary building fire; hydrocarbon (UL 1709) a pool fire reaching over 1000 °C in about five minutes. A 120-minute cellulosic rating does not give 120 minutes in a hydrocarbon fire.
