PESO
Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation — Statutory Approval Regime
The Indian statutory authority, under the Petroleum Act and the Petroleum Rules, that approves equipment for use in hazardous areas and licenses petroleum installations. An integrity engineer meets it as a certificate number on a nameplate and as a licence condition on the installation, and the common mistake is to treat the approval as equivalent to the test certificate: PESO approval covers a defined equipment configuration, so a site modification, a non-original gland or a changed cover can take the installed item outside what was approved.
This is an explanation, not the standard. PipingInspector is not affiliated with PESO and reproduces no part of the document. Always work to the current edition of the standard itself and to your project specification.
