Alarm Systems — A Guide to Design, Management and Procurement
The guide that first put numbers to alarm system performance and is still the benchmark most plants are measured against, including the often-quoted targets of around one alarm per ten minutes in steady operation and a defined limit on standing alarms. It predates IEC 62682 and remains the more practical of the two to hand to an operations team, because it is written around what an operator can actually respond to rather than around a lifecycle.
This is an explanation, not the standard. PipingInspector is not affiliated with EEMUA and reproduces no part of the document. Always work to the current edition of the standard itself and to your project specification.
