Support Structures for Wind Turbines
A DNV standard for wind turbine support structures, cited here for its treatment of grouted connections, fatigue in concrete, and steel-to-concrete transition details — among the most developed guidance available on cyclically loaded equipment foundations. The relevance to hydrocarbon facilities is the method rather than the application: large rotating machinery on a concrete foundation presents the same grout degradation and fatigue problem as a tower base.
